Alec Ounsworth of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the fantastic gig yesterday. Dr. Dog opened, and they were quite a pleasant surprise. Really great stuff.

It’s unfortunate that this photo has a mic stand in the way, but it just can’t be helped with gig photography sometimes. I recently read a rant (Dutch) against gig photography, saying the photos are all the same and it’s annoying to other concert-goers. I have some rules for myself that I think save me pretty well from being annoying to others (and M. will poke me if I don’t notice), but I have to admit there are very few chances to take a unique photo. In the end, with photos like this one, the one I’m posting tomorrow and photos like the ones that are now used on Petra Haden’s site (check the bio page for my favourite photo, also posted here) I think it’s worth the effort.
