Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) March 11, 2006

Since their appearance on The O.C. it’s not very indie-cool to like Death Cab anymore (I think), but then I can take solace in having heard of them first a long time ago while staying in Seattle. Indie-cred saved!
This is where I plug my concert photography guide.

i don’t think it’s cool to like them anymore as their last album was just so boring.
i used to be a fan (seen them live twice), but i don’t think i’ve turned against them because they got popular. I’ve never seen the OC or heard them played on the radio. I just found that album to be so dull i couldn’t get through it, and somehow that wiped away all the positives i felt about them in the past.
fashion is a strange thing, but it’s hardly surprising that a band should release their worst product to date and still be catapulted to their greatest level of success.
of course i’m weird and don’t fit easily with the masses. :)
True enough, it is a thoroughly unexciting album. Still, they can get by on their old material for now. I’ve always found it hard to separate the band from Postal Service too, which helps them quite a bit.
