Before and during the Cold War, everything in the political machine was geared towards creating fear. People were assassinated. There was talk of “anti-missiles” to fend off the missiles from other countries. Everything relied on fear, and my generation thought we left all that behind. The more things change, the more things stay the same, as evidenced from these newspapers. 1963 vs 2001. Wiretaps, espionage, civil liberties being taken away in the guise of protecting the people. Are these the 60’s or the 00’s?
