There’s a story to this photo. We were happily sitting on some steps on the Plaza de España in Madrid when someone came to sit next to us. He had somewhat torn pants and a cat mask, for some reason… and we eventually figured out that he also had a TV under a sheet sitting next to him. I figured it was a Spanish thing… he wasn’t bothering us, so we didn’t bother him. After a while we decided to move towards the shade and coolness of the fountain, cause our butts were burning on the hot steps that had been in the sun all day. The weird guy left when we did, uncovering the TV as he walked off. A whole bunch of people appeared out of nowhere to sit down and “watch” the TV. The masked guy soon came back, exploded in red liquid (ketchup?) and got yelled at for blocking the TV.
It was all rather weird. To be continued…
people do the strangest things that’s one of the things that makes photography so interesting!
What a fantastic statement they were makiing – I’d love to be involved in a group like that, challenging people’s conceptions and hopefully making one or two people think a bit more. Great that you were there to capture it and retell the story.
Amusing arrogance to think they are going to help us. Funny photography, though. Back to studying.
