Photographic opportunity August 27, 2006

Today’s post is brought to you by M. dropping a leafy-greeny bit of a tomato in the kitchen, me spotting it from the couch and wondering what it was (from far away, it seemed shaped like a tiny dinosaur), and then me laying on the hardwood floor taking photos of it. This is probably my favourite recent photo, mainly because of the lighting and simple subject matter. The lighting is all real, just the way the sensor captured it. Plus, it took no effort to find it. I just saw it while sitting on the couch.
In the end, isn’t this what photography is really about? Seeing opportunity and taking advantage of it. These are my favourite photos, the accidents captured by paying attention to your surroundings.

A spider like octopus, this is the thought hit my mind when I first caught the sight of the picture, then I realized that it should be a part of a tomato. Cute image and wonderful.
I used to work in a team with 7 other girls in my old job. They were all very girly-girls if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I used to often take a tomato to work with me to eat with my sandwiches.
I also used to often take great delight in taking off the green stalk and when no one was paying attention, throwing it casually into the middle of the group of desks.
They often would all jump up screaming because of the “big hairy spider” on their desk(s)!!
Hee hee. I’m naughty.
Also, don’t you just love the smell of a fresh tomato stalk?
I really love the lighting in this shot, it’s awesome. if you click the link to my site you will figure out who this is I think :)
