Way more than 27 cookies January 18, 2007

Update: If you were really quick you saw the photo of cookies here. I decided right after posting it that I didn’t like it, so I’ve replaced it with a photo that will remind me of myself at 26. As taken by M. in Madrid.
I’ll be taking the cookies (from the removed photo) to work tomorrow in celebration of the yearly passing of an arbitrary threshold. Tomorrow I may consider myself a year older, and I will be 27 years of age. Go me.
(Steven is unlikely to mention it himself, so I’ll help him out. It’s his birthday today. Congrats dude.)

You Reading This, Be Ready
Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softened
sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now? Are you waiting
for time to show you some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found; carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life –
What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?
