Self portrait: Spock April 8, 2007

My ear has always been like that, though I didn’t always know. It’s a strange thing to find out about in your twenties.
The light is sunlight, the background my living room. I never create the light to suit my vision; the light comes first, and I follow it. I can see the skill involved in creating a whole scene with full control over the light and subject, but in the end it does nothing for me. Whenever I do it I’m invariably disappointed with the result. That probably also explains my slow going in winter, when light is scarce.
Summer is coming. Good.

I think someone took a bite out of it while you were in a drunken early-20’s stupor…
Don’t worry - worse things happen to some of us.
I lost some trousers once in a similar way but that’s for another day.

[...] The other side of the Spock self-portrait, and it doesn’t look a whole lot more friendly.
I like it. Little irregularities make people more beautiful. Nice shot!
