Finally, after hunting him across several continents, M. managed to corner Colin at a recent “reading” he did with Daniel Handler in Beaverton, of all places. As I’ve mentioned before, the vagaries of this project demand a lot of a subject in an often already strange environment. I purposely don’t ask for the background of the message to keep it open to interpretation. In this case, I like to think Colin dreamt about playing a show on top of a turtle, and realized after he woke up that the turtle might’ve been a bit miffed about having to carry someone around (hence the turtle’s surly expression).
