Kathy Foster shines July 17, 2007

As always when the Thermals are in the country, I went out to see them tonight at the sweaty upstairs Paradiso. It’s the smallest venue I’ve seen them in yet, and they rocked the place off its foundations. I tried to give Kathy a card that I made with her on it (bottom left here, original photo here), but it got lost in the crowd somehow. Whoever got my card, at least say hi!
I’ve gotten hyper-critical of my own photography lately, which is making it hard to come up with things to post. I expect there will be a few more Thermals photos, and then I’m off to Prague for new inspiration.

A phase of hypercriticality is not bad. If you want to post more, you’ll just have to take better pictures, and what’s wrong with that? Someone told me once that a good photographer takes a hundred photos and shows you three.
So true. I agree with steph. You shouldn’t worry about it. All I can say is that you rock. I’ve been lurking your gallery for a while now. Using your stuff as reference material (hope you don’t mind)…and I love how you capture people and faces. Forget how I stumbled upon your page, but I’m glad I did. Thank you for all the hard work!
p.s. I love the night photos you have..you should take more of those!
Oh…I thought I put this in my first post….
Great capture of the colors on the photo. The black negative space..then that collage of greens, pinks, and the oranges. Not to mention her head…with the wild hair, and mouth (open in concentration?) Excellent work. Thanks again.
Steph: you’re absolutely right, and 3:100 is a pretty good score. It’s when it’s 1:300 that I find myself a little too critical. :)
Joseph: thanks so much! You’re too kind. I’ll see what I can do about the night photos. I’m off to Prague this evening, so nothing for a week, but I’ll make up for it when I’m back!
