Not many people showed up for the John Vanderslice gig at Tivoli this weekend. Apparently no one did any promotion, so only people who visit the website knew about it. My fears for a crappy show due to a bored band were quickly alleviated when they started playing, obviously in great form and spirits. These guys are pros.

The relaxed atmosphere and funny banter ended with an entirely un-amplified encore in the middle of the room. This could’ve been a highly uncomfortable situation for both band and audience, but again they pulled it off - great atmosphere, and there’s probably no better way to see John do his thing than in a setting like this.
