I’ve spent a lot of time in this building over the past few years. I’ve moved homes twice since starting there, changed jobs five times, learned an immeasurable amount of stuff, created the basis for a solid career. Now, after more than 7 years, it’s time to leave. At the end of this month I will walk out of the building for the last time as an employee. Bizarre, really. I’ll miss my colleaguesfriends. Even though we’ll be in touch, it’s weird to be leaving.
On the other hand, it’s high time to leave. Corny as it sounds, I don’t feel the passion anymore. I need a different environment with new challenges and I have no doubts about having found that. My first challenge: suppressing my natural desire for disrupting the status quo a little. Better to hang back and learn the ropes before rocking the boat.
“YOU?! At a BANK? Do you have to wear a suit?” seems to be the first reaction people have. To which I answer “yes, yes, HELL no”. Some things never change.
Today I learned that my new boss is buying a dSLR. Yeah, I think we’ll get along swimmingly. :)
