Soon the happy nugget would find out its newfound warmth was treacherous. The butter, once a warm bath that gave it some much needed colour, heated up to a point where the nugget could no longer take it. It fell apart, its smile wiped away forever.

This is a composite of two photos taken more than 12 hours apart, one after dark and one the next afternoon. I wasn’t in the _exact_ same location so it took a bit of stretching to align the two photos. I’m pretty happy with the combination of blur and texture, esp. on the tram. I don’t recall the tram number of the night shot, but I’m quite sure it wasn’t the 24 again.

Another Paul for today. This is him doing his best Homer Simpson impression in the gas tank of a motorcycle. He’s much thinner in real life. :) (I promised I’d say that, but it’s true!)

You’d think this photo was taken a long time ago. In fact, only the equipment used is (very) old. It’s a low quality scan of a low quality slide film exposure, with an obvious massive light leak. :) This girl was probably wondering why I was pointing a weird plastic camera at her.

The bad focus isn’t my fault either – the only controls on this camera are rudimentary aperture controls (three settings!) and manual exposure, governed by how long you hold the shutter down. The manual says the focus is always spot-on, regardless of the subject and distance. Handy, that.

It’s strange to realize that only a few years ago everyone took photos by putting a camera to their face and squinting through the viewfinder. Now most people keep the camera at arm’s length to compose a photo.

As taken during the Decemberists gig in Berlin a few weeks ago. This guy was taking a photo of his friend who got pulled up on stage to play guitar.

Everything is moving except for the dancers. Or is it the other way around?

Inspiration has been a little lacking lately (oooh, nice alliteration), but I expect a new delivery in the next few days. Not of inspiration itself, as such, but something that will spark it. One can hope.

Right after the sun set behind the Golden Gate bridge, I took some time to pan at the bikers going past, some with lights on their bikes. ‘Twas nice.

Brandon moved around while taking this shot. He’s quick like that.

This is a bit of a deceptive photo. I didn’t take it through a hole. In fact, I wasn’t even looking at the building you see here. You get a cookie if you can figure it out.

Certainly the most experimental photo I’ve posted yet. Something about this photo didn’t show what I was seeing at the time, so after some fiddling this comes a lot closer. Taken at a bagel shop downtown which looks out on one of the many scenes of construction for the new subway line.
